Poseidon’s Dog Training Programs

Poseidon K9 can teach your puppy everything it needs to know to be successful in your home and life, but YOU are ultimately responsible for following through with, and building upon, your puppy’s training for the lifetime of your dog. We are honored to be part of your puppy’s training journey!

Poseidon’s Problem Solver

How it works:

After your initial inquiry, we schedule an Initial Consultation at your home with you and your family to learn more about you and your family, your dog, your lifestyle, and your training goals. We discuss our training methods, set realistic expectations, and develop a general plan to help you achieve your goals. Once you book your program, your trainer will bring your dog back to his/her personal home to do the Board & Train. This is a fully immersive program designed to set a solid foundation of obedience for your dog, and address deeper behavioral issues (leash reactivity, resource guarding, dog aggression, human aggression, separation anxiety, etc.). Note: Depending on your dog’s behaviors, we may ask you to muzzle train your dog, or have some one-on-one sessions with our trainer, before your dog’s board and train begins. Additionally, your dog’s board and train may require additional week(s) if moderate to severe behavioral rehabilitation and/or modification.

Includes:

  • Biweekly updates with photos and videos of your dog’s training and progress
  • One (1) Go Home Session (1 hour long) at your home, with your dog’s trainer, detailing dog’s behaviors, how to maintain and build on your dog’s new good behaviors, how to manage your dog’s underlying behavioral issues, how to prevent potential new “bad” behaviors, your homework
  • Two (2) Follow Up Sessions (1 hour long each) with your dog’s trainer, to check in on your progress, to continue building on your dog’s new good behaviors, to address/troubleshoot/prevent potential new “bad” behaviors. First Follow Up Session at your home within a week of the Go Home Session. Second Follow Up Session at your home or field trip location of choice within a week of the First Follow Up Session
  • Unlimited text/phone call support during the Follow Up process
  • Open invitation to join trainers on public field trips to brush up on skills

Commands/Behaviors:

  • House Manners (eye contact where appropriate & heavy engagement, waiting at thresholds, waiting for meals, taking treats politely, no counter surfing, no nipping, no begging, etc.)
  • Potty Training if necessary
  • Crate Training if necessary
  • Free
  • Place
  • Sit

Depending on the severity of your dog’s behavioral rehabilitation and/or modification, training may require additional week(s) to address safely. Please note, training is never complete – it is a perishable skill that must be practiced, and no amount of time will ever produce a “finished” dog! Poseidon K9 can teach your dog everything it needs to know to be successful in your home and life, but YOU are ultimately responsible for following through with, and building upon, your dog’s training for the lifetime of your dog.

This is especially true for any behavioral rehabilitation and/or modification case. We promise to be honest with you if we feel your dog is not a good match for you and/or your lifestyle, if we feel the management plan for your dog may be too much for you to keep up with, and/or if we feel it is dangerous for you to keep your dog, even with the management plan. We do not take the responsibility of rehabilitating your dog lightly, there are no short cuts. We are honored to be part of your dog’s training journey!

Once training is complete

We will have what we call a “Go Home” Session with Trainer detailing dog’s behaviors, maintaining training, and how to troubleshoot future behaviors. This session is a hour long. Following this season we also offer (2) Follow Up Sessions once your dog has been at home with you at least a week.
